Caberfeidh

Polbain, Achiltibuie, Wester Ross, Scotland, IV26 2YW
3 star self-catering accommodation; open Easter/April to November

Caberfeidh is an outstandingly situated family house with a magnificent outlook over the sea to the Summer Isles, and the Dundonnel Mountains in the far distance. Set in an elevated and peaceful position in Polbain, it has been extended and modernised into a labour-saving and very comfortable home.

Polbain is one of the loveliest areas of the North West Highlands. It lies within forty-five minutes motoring from Ullapool and a further hour from Inverness. Within easy reach are two general stores, a petrol pump, a Post Office, the famous Achiltibuie Smokehouse, the Summer Isles Hotel, Am Fuaran Bar and the Hydroponicum Garden and Cafe.

“What would the World be, once bereft
Of wet and wilderness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wildness yet.”

Nearby, Achnahaird Bay offers pebbly beaches and an extensive stretch of sand, backed by dunes. the surrounding scenery has a wide variety of wildlife, and Inverpolly Nature Reserve with its "wet and wilderness" is within a few miles. As well as sea fishing, the country is ideal for hill-walking, climbing, and brown trout fishing. Tanera Mohr, one of the largest of the Summer Isles, lies out to sea immediately in front of Caberfeidh, providing an excellent anchorage, while the picturesque harbour of Old Dornie, about two miles away, is ideal for smaller craft.
